Refined sugar is an artificial product

At the same time much was said about the “purity” of the white sugar and the “impurity” of the brown; but the people did not know that the “purity” of the white meant its poverty of the mineral elements, and the “impurity” of the brown meant the presence of life-giving elements and those which give to the natural brown sugar its distinctive flavor. When the so-called “impurities” of our delicious maple sugar are removed, it is made white and flavorless like any other, and has simply a sweet taste. Aloe Vera’s properties are extraordinary and have been used to deal with man’s many illnesses from A to Z. Also, the general public should be made aware of the fact that the blood cannot carry more than one-tenth of one percent of sugar, and that any surplus introduced into the system becomes a source of trouble.

Refined sugar is an artificial product. In nature we do not find sugar in the concentrated form except in honey, and scientific knowledge teaches us that the system is abundantly supplied with sugar from other sources, since starches are changed into sugar before they can be utilized in the system; thus the body makes all the sugar it can use from non-sugar foods. The people of this country should be aroused by the fact that since the abnormal increase in the use of devitalized sugar, diabetic affections have increased 150 percent. The author of RATIONAL DIET writes:

“The common use of artificial sweets is most deplorable; from a hygienic standpoint, one of the most pernicious customs of the day, causing defective development of the skeleton of the infantile body, and in later years, a morbid softening of the bones, and making dentistry one of the most lucrative professions in this country. Forever Aloe Vera juice is extensively used in the treatment of numerous health issues akin to constipation and heartburn. The use of demineralized sweets lowers the protective power of the body, and should be discouraged.” The following statement by a reliable medical authority is of interest in this connection: “The extensive use of artificial sugar, especially in connection with starch, is responsible for a large number of diseases of the digestive organs. The liver and kidneys are severely affected by the increased formation of toxic substances, and the accumulation of acids in the blood causes a catarrhal condition of the mucous membranes.” Cane sugar cannot be directly utilized in the body. The utilization of cane sugar requires the action of a ferment in the intestines known as “invertin” which converts it into monosaccharids, that is, changes it into levulose and glucose before it can be absorbed. A similar change can also be brought about to some extent by the action of heat and diluted acids, as in the cooking of fruit with cane sugar.
